In the 2026 grant funding round WBS Charitable Trust awarded $2000 to Sustainable Wairarapa's pekapeka | long-tailed bat monitoring programme for new AR5 monitors. These monitors are super sensitive for detecting pekapeka movement! The pekapeka monitorsing group of Sustainable Wairarapa is looking to expand its activities, so more AR5 monitors is a great start.

Sustainable Wairarapa is privileged to support Tony Garstang and Kirsten Browne by hosting Ngā Waipikopiko Rau o Whakaoriori; Tuna Highways of urban Masterton on our website. This is a map of the streams in Masterton town area including underground diversions and locations where tuna (eels) can be found. Free resource for education, hapu, iwi and non-profits.
The bat monitoring program needs new AR5 bat monitors, so Sustainable Wairarapa has set up a GiveaLittle page called Tracking Pekapeka to fund raise. If you would like to donate or support the bat monitoring program in a different way, please contact info@sustainablewairarapa.org.nz.
