Since 2002, Sustainable Wairarapa has continuously pursued four quite distinct, complementary kinds of environmental activism.
Nature projects, such as planting days and stream clean-ups.
Professional and citizen science research, from piloting sustainable farming techniques to monitoring Wairarapa’s threatened species.
Strategic and informed lobbying campaigns at every level of government, on issues from freshwater to wastewater to climate change.
Presentations by experts on topics relating to sustainability.
With this range of activities available to them, our members participate in the kind of activism that personally suits them; we are tree planters, lizard counters, RMA nerds, and public event organisers. We enjoy good synergies.
If you have passion, skills, and energy for a sustainable future for the Wairarapa, Sustainable Wairarapa has a place for you.
